Extended Two-Footed Ashiatsu Course

This is an Advanced level course. Previous experience using Ashiatsu Bars is required. Bars are necessary to perform all techniques taught in this course.


1. Extended Standing Ashiatsu, Deepfeet Two Advanced (Deepfeet Bar Therapy), OR Posterior & Anterior Introductory Ashiatsu.

2. Physically capable of pulling up weight into bars; hold 90 degree bend in elbow & at waist for eight seconds; can meet therapist-to-client-weight-ratio = client being 40 pounds heavier than the therapist. (Guest clients needed for this class are required to be a minimum of 165 pounds). If you can swing through a set of monkey bars, you can do this class!

This course offers techniques that have not been taught in Ashiatsu classes previously, as well as techniques offered in other current “Advanced” classes.

In this course, therapists will learn techniques designed with a client-to-therapist weight ratio, and have both therapist’s feet on the body. Due to pressure and physicality of these techniques, students will begin with proper warm up techniques and detailed instructions. Two footed work will be learned between centripal, one footed techniques. This course is offered separately from other advanced Ashiatsu courses to prevent weight ratio conflict and discrimination of heavier therapists from learning other one footed Advanced Ashiatsu techniques.

  • Complete a 60-120 minute Ashiatsu session with ease, fluidity, and variation

  • Know cautionary points and contraindications for Ashiastu

  • Be able to stay connected with their clients throughout 90% of the session

  • Understand the importance of their body mechanics to continue advancement with Ashiatsu

  • Use their hands/arms for balance, not grip the bar

  • Adjust pressure from light to deep; vice versa

  • Use continuous movement without secondary touch or disruption to the client

  • Choose the correct “foot tool” for the specific area/muscle being worked

  • Choose the correct foot placement on the table to increase reach and ease of movement

  • Combine general, connective work with detailed, specific work

  • Advance from “pushing” their foot on the body to “leaning, sinking, and gliding”

  • Know how to properly and safely control the amount of pressure throughout their sessions

  • Be fully aware of bio feedback and know when & how to communicate with their clients

  • Have proper after-care instructions to give clients


Mandatory Requirements


Each person in attendance must be able to give and receive, equal time.

If you are pregnant, or trying to get pregnant, have had any kind of implant within the last nine months, or have a contraindication/injury/disability that will inhibit your ability to do either, we regret to inform you that you cannot attend the seminar. We will be happy to welcome you back after you have recovered.


No garments/undergarments are permitted for the receiving therapist during their initial learning practical.

Women on their menstrual cycles need to be prepared so that their student partner may practice without the interference of undergarments; all students will need to comply with this requirement to learn proper palpation and draping techniques during class.


Draping is a major part of learning this technique.

Each student will be draped and learn to drape in a “half drape” or “vertical” drape, opposed to conservative draping techniques taught in most schools.


Feedback is absolutely necessary.

You & your student partner will need to communicate verbally and physically. No one should receive uncomfortable, painful, or too much pressure without stopping the working therapist. It is difficult to control pressure in the learning process, but becomes easier with practice. Patience with yourself and your class mates is essential!

What To Wear To Class


For classes, we recommend you dress in layers. Standing on top of a table is much warmer for the therapist than standing next to the table. When you’re learning and getting used to standing on the table, expect to sweat. It’s a good idea to have something warmer for note taking time, and something cooler for “feet – on” time.

Whatever tights/bottoms/pants/shorts you choose, please be sure they are comfortable to sit & stretch in. Long length or capris are acceptable, without “bell bottoms” or loose/hanging material/strings at the bottom cuff. Male students do well with basketball shorts, or “gym wear.”

Footwear is important!

A closed-toed slipper/shoe is mandatory to keep feet soft, warm, and sanitary, while a pair of slip ons/flip flops are needed for when your feet have oil on them, during the working part of your session. PLEASE BRING BOTH TO CLASS. Disposable flip flops are fine, but you must have clean, sanitized closed toe shoes/slippers for class & clients.




Your FEET:

Please do not come to class unless you have prepared your feet! Soft, clean, and pedicured feet are a must! This doesn’t mean you have to go out and pay for a professional one; you may do a pedicure yourself at home, just be sure to come to class with:

  • short, filed toe nails

  • soft, filed heels

  • soft, filed pads (balls of the feet-the entire width of the foot)

  • shaved/clipped leg hair (If you shave your legs, you will probably need to shave each day, so please pack accordingly).

You may bring 1 set for yourself and reuse them each day. You must have 1 clean set per Guest Client.

Shoes are a requirement! One closed toe, warm pair & One slip on/flip flop, preferably washable. (see above)

Other items to bring: Snacks, Meals, Water, Drinks, Pens/Pencils, Paper/notebook, vitamins/medications needed, camera/phone & chargers, measurements for treatment room/building information, and anything else that helped you get through your massage school days!




To reserve a spot in this workshop, you will need to send in the required deposit, signed Code of Ethics & Liability Form, & Registration Form. Because this is a tuition based course, we prefer deposits to be paid with checks; credit cards will be accepted, and will add a 3.5% to the total charged. You may bring the balance to class in cash, check, money order, or credit card.

There are no refunds on deposits. Only in the event of proper documentation of injury, death in the immediate family, or weather prohibiting travel, will the option for tuition to be rolled over into a workshop at a later date be open to you. This special consideration will be allowed one time only, and will cost $50.00. 

Bare Your Sole, LLC will refund all money for any cancelled seminar due to its responsibility. If minimum enrollment numbers are not met, the class would be considered a private tutorial. A private tutorial would not fall under the guidelines of the listed tuition price and each workshop would increase by $100 per student. If registration is low enough to cancel class you will be notified 2 weeks prior to the scheduled dates. At such time, students can choose: A) If they would like a 100% refund.  B) Roll their deposit over to another class with no penalty C) Take advantage of the private training.
